Acculturation with realistic cultural empathy is an important competency for comprehending and analyzing the beliefs, values, and thought patterns that govern the behavior of people from a different culture. The importance of being able to identify mutually satisfactory outcomes during intercultural negotiations is also an important competency. The Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF) has charged the Air Force Negotiations Center of Excellence (NCE) for development and delivery of interest-based negotiations (IBN) competency in every Airman.
TIS developed a high fidelity, decision tree branching simulation on Cross Cultural Negotiations for the Negotiation Center of Excellence, USAF. The majority of the target audience for this simulation were comprised of DOD Company Grade Officers, and junior NCOs. Additionally, DOD civilians in the grades of GS 9-12 were also potential customer / students.
TIS designed a Simulation based e-learning solution based on its platform for creating highly branched and interactive decision tree based simulations that:
Enables participants to apply decision making skills and judgment in a consequence free environment
Allows players to understand the impact of these decisions by being able to actually watch them unfold
Provides multiple scenarios based on a decision tree branching framework
Provides substantive and contextual feedback
Is interactive and immersive so as to fully engage the player with the learning experience
Presents multiple cultural challenge scenarios in a variety of settings
